A three-week residential summer program for juniors and seniors in high school designed to significantly improve their writing skills and to prepare them for the level of writing needed to succeed at the most demanding colleges and universities. Small student to instructor ratio, includes numerous chaperoned trips to Philadelphia's museums, cultural and historical sites.

Program for young women attending the Young Women's Leadership Charter School. The goal of the program is to engage high school girls as readers and creators of cross-cultural literature by increasing their exposure to literature by women, creating access to living women writers, and writing as a skill and means of personal expression.

Offers book groups for young women and girls throughout the Chicagoland area. The groups combine literature discussion and poetry writing that support self-exploration and empowerment. Participants perform their work throughout Chicago.

RWR’s goal is to encourage reading and writing by providing a sociable and supportive environment that will promote, encourage and develop their reading and writing skills. Members will meet once a month at a local bookstore to discuss the “Book of the Month” and share how it relates to their lives. The members will write a one-page essay on how the book impacted their life. Each club member will submit a one-page essay, book review or poem, which will be included and compiled into the My Daughter’s Keeper ReadwRiters Summary Series. Mothers of ReadwRiter members are encouraged to serve as ReadwRiter leaders. Incentives include celebrity author's readings & book signing, writing competitions, and prizes, such as gift certificates.

A discussion, writing, and performance program for young women. Writing is used as a gateway to explore, discuss, and exchange ideas on feminism, power, body image, street harassment and other issues. Participants' poems and short stories are published and performed at the end of two fifteen-week sessions. This year, workshops will be held at Clemente and Prologue High Schools. |
