Executive Director Marcia Coné welcomed over 300 people and remarked on the 10 years of extraordinary accomplishments of the Women’s Fund (watch video below); all with the help of hundreds of donors who generously give their time and resources to support research, grant making and policy advocacy to bring about gender equality.
Coné further challenged participants to look to the future and imagine what Rhode Island could be like in 2021 as we all work toward gender equity in all spheres of life. With the theme “Imagine”, the space was transformed into a place in the future with spectacular lighting, a billowing fabric entrance, and “live” dancing sculptures.
A stunning glass sculpture by internationally known Toots Zynsky, was auctioned off with proceeds to benefit the Fund. And a paddle up event – with attendees “bidding” to offer their continued support of the vital work of the Fund, combined to bring in over $25,000 that evening.
We were honored by the presence of well-known luminaries, including Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representative David Cicilline, as we celebrated and danced to the tune of Plaid Daddy.
Thanks again to our event committee and the Gala sponsors.
